I trained first as a physiotherapist and came to yoga late, and sceptically. What convinced me was not a posture but a patient — a man of sixty-one who had been told his back was just wear and tear, and who got most of his life back by moving deliberately for twenty minutes a day.
Marcolle is built around that idea. Classes are capped at ten. Nobody is asked to do a shape they cannot control. If something hurts we change it, and we change it in front of everyone, because watching a teacher adapt is how you learn to adapt for yourself.
I still work alongside physiotherapists and I will say plainly when yoga is not the answer. That happens more often than the wellness industry likes to admit.
If you are coming back from surgery, or you have been told to keep moving without being told how, this is the room for that.
